Do you have to tell centrelink if your band earns occasional money, but you donamp;#39;t get it? -
i am not sure sure of this but i think any money earned ,whether paid or not, must be declared on your fortnightly claim for if you are receiving newstart allowance. in other words centrelink dose not care if you have been paid for gig it just wants to reduce your allowance.the pursuit of your money owed is a legal matter to be handled in court at small claims court which could be expensive and difficult to prove if you do not have a written and signed contract. in future insist on a written contract from gig manager or refuse to do work.hope this helps.|::::|Is it a real partnership business with an ABN or is it just a hobby? If your band lodges a partnership tax return then you could run into some problems down the track if you don t declare your share of income in the business. Partnership income is still quot;earnedquot;, even before it is distributed to the partners. You haven t given enough info to get more of an answer than that. You should ask the band s accountant for advice and find out about Centrelink s policies on declaring partnership and hobby income.|::::|Don t tell them who you are but ring up centrelink and ask them.
