I have a question for Catholics? -
I am from Mexico and most people here are Catholic. I have unintentionally gotten into several arguments because I have voiced my opinion over religion, particularly Catholicism. I don t appreciate the fact that people give their hard-earned money to an establishment who claims to give the money gathered in collection plates to the poor but really doesn t. Being that the majority of Mexicans are Catholic and contribute to the church, why is there still a lot of poverty in my country? The priest in my church, for example, has a luxurious car. Not very humble. If most people in the world are religious, and most religions preach charity, why are there still a lot of homeless and hungry people in the world? I am not saying there are no good Catholics. I know there are. I know plenty. But generally speaking, why if most people are religious and belive in charity, why are there still a lot of people in bad shape?|::::|quot;I don t appreciate the fact that people give their hard-earned money to an establishment who claims to give the money gathered in collection plates to the poor but really doesn t.quot; Catholic church is the biggest charity organization in the world, fact... quot;I am not saying there are no good Jews. I know there are. I know plenty. But generally speaking, why if most Jews are religious and belive in charity, why are there still a lot of people in bad shape?quot; see how idiotic your question is... ? EDIT: gladly, http://en.allexperts.com/q/Catholics-955...|::::|The Mexicans you speak of who give money to the church would have to be billionares to end the poverty in Mexico. There s still suffering because we can only give so much. The funds required to end such violence and hunger would take more than most of us can afford.|::::|What s wrong with Catholics being Generous to Our Church? It s Not up to You to see how we spend Our Money...We freely give without doubting because we know where it go s...You must not. Why don t you give freely where you go? Wow, how far can a burger go anyway? If you find it insulting that the Catholic members support the Catholic Charities...well that s just too bad. Merry Christmas.|::::|Giving tithes and offerings to God is our faith. How a priest takes care of the tithes and offerings is his. God blesses those who give in faith, even if the collector is not faithful.|::::|im catholic too and F*** yeah i saw a priest frm santa fe had a better car than me and i drive an RX-8 LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! no joke!!!!!!!! and he was slanging sum crap how the only non evil president was JFK LMAO!!!!!!!!!! no joke i laughed n left|::::|Most money that catholics have given has gone to pay off the victims of priest molestations, millions and millions of dollars.|::::|do u hand your money over to the poor???!|::::|because most of us just TALK THE TALK and not WALK THE WALK...PERIOD !!|::::|1. Before accusing churchs of keeping the money, ask for the quarterly reports. You will see exactly where the money goes. 2. Churchs alone cannot handle the massive amount of people who need help...and its getting worse by the day. You do not have to donate the church. If you feel your money is best spent buying food to deliver to some homeless people then do so. 3. Blaming an entire denomination for possible church fraud is ridiculous and not fair. That would be like me saying ALL blondes are dumb, ALL baptists are conservative and brainwashed, ALL atheists are ignorant. It s simply not true.|::::|The Catholic Church provides to millions of people thru out the world 7/24/365 food, clothing, medicine, healthcare, education, housing and many other things. But in some countries after the Catholic missionaries have been there the people of that country come in and remove all that has been given. It is kind of like when the USA sponsored the quot; We are the Worldquot; foundation and we sent boatloads of supplies to Africa. The African government confiscated all the supplies for their own use or left it all in the harbor to rot. The car your priest drives is provided either by your parish or the diocese. He did not buy it on his own. Priests dont make enough money to do that|::::|So you disapprove of Jesus teachings on tithing? AND Paul s teaching that you should support the men of God who teach you? You also think that God should be worshiped in a mud hut with no honor about Him? And no heat or clean furnishings for God s people? You don t approve of song books or rugs or clean bathrooms in the parish? or snow removal on the steps or in the parking lot? Or how about a vehicle for the priests and lay ministers to use for hospital and prison ministry, and money to buy materials for these important outreaches. The Catholic Church is the largest provider of food, clothing, hospital services and other care in the world, more than government of any country in the world.|::::|The money that I give to my church (which is not Roman Catholic) is for the upkeep of the church and to help pay the pastor s salary. We have a missionary box for voluntary donations and we occasionally are asked if we would like to support a named charity, again no pressure. When I give charitably I do it myself, not through my church. I send a donation anonymously giving an email address for acknowledgement and that s it. The money goes straight to where I want it to help, no postage wasted on receipts or follow up letters etc. It isn t that I distrust my church it is just that I want my money to go where I feel lead to help and not feel that all the church members have to agree to help one particular cause. The R.C.C. is so huge in some countries it is hard to believe that they can allow the poor to continue living the way they do. Allowing birth control would be a step in the right direction but they should be parting with a lot of their money also to help those already born. To see huge, beautifully adorned churches surrounded by children in rags and being hungry, with no shoes on their feet is a disgrace.|::::|Mexicans aren t Catholics.... Mexicans pretty much worship whatever glitters... Once in Oaxaca, I saw a soccer match played on a gravel field...it was some sort of tournament and the teams were playing the finals... They had this tacky-looking tall gilded-aluminum and marble trophy beside the field, for people to look at...you won t believe this, but I saw several peasant-looking people actually genuflecting (crossing themselves) BEFORE the damn trophy!!!!! Before you draw your claws at me, think of La Santa Muerte, El Ni?o Fidencio, Malverde (Drug traffickers saint patron)... ------------------------ quot;...Blaming an entire denomination for possible church fraud is ridiculous...quot; yeah right, like the Pope travels on a mule and lives in a shack...
