If you found out your neighbor was selling cigarrettes to your child, what would you do? -

and how would you punish your child for smoking and using your hard earned money (I m a single mom) for buying them. The neighbors are crazy....to say the least and aren t the type of people you can have a chat with about things and I m not sure if calling the police would benefit either. Help?|::::|It s illegal in all states to sell cigarettes to a minor, so I would call the police and see how the neighbors like a fine. As to the kid, well, as much as I hate to say it, there probably isn t much you can do. You can try grounding him or something but it s clear he wants to smoke, so (since you can t watch your kids 100% of the time) he s going to find a way to do it.|::::|Busy hands have no time for cigarettes. Do call the police. An explanation from a policeman to both your son and neighbors about the law is better said and heard from authority than a mother. Since you do not know how long this has been going on...and the smell of smoke is so disgusting, an education in smoke removal of all clothing ; shoes; interior of home. Exterior of home, cig arette butts...all brands within a block should be adequate. This cleaning experience should include the use of rubber gloves ....oh of course any vehicles...afterall a smoky article of clothing can rub off. This then, along with some web-site education...the look at a cancerous lung, person and literature would probably take some time. Then, should have to repay money by working off. This should help. This time spent together making sure the projects are thoroughly accomplished may lead to some education. The theme here? Busy hands are happy hands. Keep your child busy. Find an interest. Was this a call for your attention?|::::|I would place my child on restriction and forbid them for going to the neighbors. If the neighbors come and ask for him let them know that he can t go out because he is on restriction for smoking. Then here is the most important part.... FOLLOW THROUGH One of the things your child needs to learns is consequences of their actions. Remove the TV, limited acces to the computer for school related subject (and monitor it) Remove any toys (Ipod, laptop etc.) until they earn the right to get them back. If they make the same mistake implement the same punishment.|::::|selling to a Minor is Illegal in the US did you know that IF you do not call the cops you Are enabling the neighbor s to break the law PLUS you could get in trouble for Child Abuse I say start with the kids and put your foot down whats next if you don t how dare they use your $ to kill them self s|::::|If the neighbors are crazy then i wouldn t deal with them but i d punish my kid by not letting them out of the house at all. A lady once told me that the best way to discipline a kid to is to get all their clothes and leave them only 2 outfits for a whole week and 1 pair of shoes. Take everything else away - everything.|::::|1. Reprimand your child for even smoking in the first place and go voer the dangers of using such products. Grounding him, taking away all his stuff, and making him work to make up the money he spent on teh cigarettes doesn t hurt either. 2. Call the police on them as they can go to jail for selling tobacco products to a minor (or at least be fined).|::::|you really need to talk to a policeman because that is unacceptable and then i would give my child a VERY long talk about what cigarettes can do to you. then i would have my child think about what happened the day this happened. P.S go tell off the neighbors if you have to. speak your mind hope i helped!!!!|::::|i would have my neighbor arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and i would make my son or daught eat every single one of those ciggs (my father did this to me when he caught me smoking when i was 12) and i am proud to say i have never touched a single ciggarette since|::::|Let it be known to your kids that, that is a big no no. You know about it and if you ever catch them smoking they are gonna get it. Then talk to the neighbors that probably think its funny. If they don t stop then call the cops.|::::|I would go over and scold my neighbors and I d punish my child by taking away all privliges and doing extra house work.|::::|dont give his ungreatful behind not another red cent and call the cops bc if the stores cant sell them to minors y can ur neighbors...n my mom caught my sister smokin n made her chain smoke an entire pack!|::::|i m sorry! that must suck!!!!
