Can you make money off of lulu.com? -

Okay, I published my book on lulu.com and put it so people could by it on the web. And it says that four people have already bought my book, so I m wondering, do I earn any of that money? And if so, how? Thanks in advance.|::::|Nick, your agreement with Lulu is spelled out in your contract with them. I ve never paid to publish, so I m guessing here, but they probably pay you any royalties only once per quarter and only if they meet or pass a certain low amount, like five or ten dollars. Like all self-published books, you re looking at total sales of about 45-65, including any you buy yourself, no matter how good the book is or how hard you market it.|::::|The only way you ll break even on this venture is to get the word out that you have a book out. I self published a couple years ago and it wasn t until this past summer when I put together a 20 event tour (you can google Christopher Pascale to see that I m for real) that some of my friends and relatives bought it, because they didn t know I was a writer. Independent bookstores will be open to having you. If you can get distribution through Ingram or Bakeramp;Taylor then you ll be able to get into Borders and Bamp;N. When you call, ask for the manager and say quot;I m a local author and was calling to see if I could come in for an event.quot; By event you mean a signing or a reading. They ll be happy to have you in for a signing.|::::|One of the guys in my office says he s earning a very acceptable amount of money off the stuff he s posted on lulu. Like the person above said: Check your contract.
