Why can tax payer(us) vote like an election for bailout package? After-all Itamp;#39;s our hard earned money.? -
We DO...We vote to choose representatives in Congress...These people are supposed to represent US...I am EXTREMELY pleased with MY senators from my state, they do what the majority of us in my state want them to do (NO on BOTH bailouts), I am very proud of them (most especially Mitch McConnell) for standing up for us and giving a voice to our collective concerns. For some reason, many people don t pay attention to who they are electing to speak for them...After the debacle with the first bailouts why would ANYONE vote to keep Reid, Dodd, Pelosi and Frank in there? People need to pay more attention and make sure that they are electing people who WILL speak for them...That s what their jobs are supposed to be since we can t all fit in the room with them when it comes time to vote on an issue. Bad things happen when you vote for people without knowing anything about them or where they stand.|::::|That s not the system we have in place. We vote for our politician in a Democrat system who then quot;representquot; your thoughts and consideration. The best thing you can can is LOBBY your representatives to make your voice heard about your needs. In some countries, there is a system called Federalism where the people actually vote on each issue in front of them; Switzerland is one example.|::::|Yeah. I m pretty aggravated, we ve already bailed out the banks, why do we have to bail out car companies? We can do without those if need be, there are other ways of purchasing a vehicle without those *ssholes hiking up the prices. We should vote on it, since it has just about everything to do with us taxpaying citizens.|::::|Word is that since a deal didn t make it through the senate, the White House (Treasury Dept) is going to use some of the $700 billion already alloted for the banks to boost the auto makers. Sort of makes sense, since the reason the banks were given the bailout was to help them in their ability to lend. And if you think about it, isn t GMAC a bank? Ford Motor Credit?|::::|Unfortunately, the people voted into an office to represent our wants and needs are poorly educated on their job duties. They choose to represent themselves and what they want or need. As for lobbying our representatives....most will not listen to those they feel are beneath their pay scale (us), even though we are the ones who pay their large salaries. Pelosi is a disgrace and her fellow congressmen and women follow suit. They are hypocrits to the core!|::::|In essence you already have. We all elect our representatives to the house and senate. If you don t trust them enough to do what s right, chances are that you voted incorrectly. My rep. and senators have voted no for all bailouts, financial, auto, and they will most likely vote no on whoever comes next looking for a handout. We voted correctly in our state.|::::|If we have a right to vote directly on this expenditure of our tax money, then we should have the same right to vote for any expenditure. And if that had been the case in 2003, would we have ever spent trillions of dollars to fight this Iraq war?|::::|I agree with you! I hate that these decisions are being made for us, not by us. Also, I agree with Cavuto who suggested instead of bailing out the housing industry, banks and car companies, they should give each American adult citizen $100,000 that would free up the economy!|::::|time constraints we would not be doing anything but voting all the time that s why we vote for representatives to take care of the business of government for us|::::|Thats why we vote for state representatives. Look how it was easy to brain wash some people during the election, I rather have clear thinking people who have proven their selves (by getting elected)|::::|Because we would vote out all this retarded overseas spending, big wages for the President and his gang of henchmen. And a whole lot of pork.|::::|Excellent question! It s not just our money, it s our future earnings that are being tied up in bailout money.|::::|Great question. I think we should be allowed to.
