My dad lost my SS# and i need it for a job? -
my dad lost my SS# when i was little and now i want to get a job at like walmart or something so i can earn some money and have something to do during the weekend (i live in a very small town) how do i get a new one?|::::|Go to your local ss office to apply for a replacement card. They will give you a receipt showing that you have a replied for a replacement. You can give that receipt to your employer as proof of your ss # until your new card arrives. You can only get 6 replacement cards in one life time so be very careful with the new one and keep it in a safe place.|::::|file for a replacement as answered by khaileebeth . if you find a job before the card arrives you can go to work without it. you do not have to use a SS card for the I-9 and the employer does not have to see the card for the W-4. you can use your copy of the form that you use to file for a new card to prove you have applied if you need proof for some reason. |::::|I really don t know about getting a new one but I thing that the SS administration should be able to retrieve your number by referencing your parents numbers. BTW that number is YOUR number YOU are the keeper of it, if you trust anybody else with it (even your Dad,) well you can suffer the consequences, but its YOUR number. Learn what it means and why you have it, and take care of it. I am NOT a NUMBER .... I am a FREE MAN! . |::::|I just went and got a new one at the social security office. You need to find local office in your town and bring Identification when you go. I believe you can only get so many cards in a lifetime so be sure to hang on to this one and don t lose. Make sure no one else gets a hold of your number either. Keep ss# card hidden in safe spot. Only bring card out when needed. Good Luck|::::|http://ssa-custhelp.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/ssa....|::::|Go to your local social security office and fill out paperwork for a replacement one. When I got married and needed to change my name, they printed it right there. |::::|Ask your dad to look at his copy of prior years tax returns. Your number is listed on those.|::::|go to get new social security card on the computer key words, or find your local office and go there.
