The UAW gives millions of dollars of their workers money to political campaigns...is this fair? -

The UAW has given tens of millions of dollars to Democrats. What if you are a UAW member and are a Republican and don t want your money given to politicians? Wouldn t that money be better spent improving their product or staying in the pocket of the person that EARNED that money?|::::|the Unions are bad. When Unions were first created to protect workers from unfair working conditions, now they are used to blackmail companies. The big 3 are having one of their hardest years ever with sales going into the toilet. After a few years GM FINALLY started to show a profit,so the UAW decides to strike. Makes no sense.|::::|What is the alternative? Unions have a right to exist. Workers have a right to unite and collectively bargain with their employer for wages and benefits. So if an organization is formed for the purpose of benefiting the members and furthering their goals it is unfair for the organization to do just that? The Republicans spent millions on political candidates and lost the white house and shrank their minorities in congress. Seems like the unions know where to put their money.|::::|Let s see..hmmm. no fat, wealthy Republican ever gave a red cent to have a Republican elected, right? Shall we start with all the political action committees, Republican think tanks, and dirty businesses, including Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, Microsoft Corporation and who knows how many others? If we are gonna get down on the unions for giving away money for election, then we have to get all the dirty rich people up on the same platform.|::::|It s not fair, but then the UAW has never been fair, except to their big shot deep pockets. They won t budge on this thing, and the Republicans, and some Democrats who voted against this yesterday are being blamed. All the senate nay sayers wanted was concessions from the UAW, and a PLAN showing what the Big 3 were going to do, and how they were going to do it. If you go for a loan anywhere, you re scrutinized like crazy, but the auto industry? Not so much.|::::|Spooky Cat, I don t know were you get your information from, but I was told that should I get a job with CSX Railroad that unless I joined the union within the first 2 years of employment, I would be fired. Now, as far as joining a union say at the VA hospital, you do have a choice and dues are only $15 a month. fdm215, FYI: The House is controlled by democrats. Therefore, the 700 billion was approved by democrats.|::::|Why do they care about anything being fair ? So long as they remain in power they don t give a rats a** about people, the economy or our country. Thatnk God for our right to work law here in Alabama. No one can force a person to join a union here.|::::|You have the choice of not joining the union. However, most people do like their kneecaps where they are.|::::|If unions have that much money to give, then they can take a pay-cut.|::::|The financial groups did the same thing and they got $700 BILLION. What industry DOESN T give to campaigns? Did you thing that was terrible? I doubt it.
