Doing everything you can to save money for a horse? -
I m 15...not old enough for a job yet (besides working for my parents, which I m trying to do as much as I can) How else can I earn money? Can you give me a long list of chores or other things I can offer to do for my parents for money?? I m really serious about this, I will do whatever it takes to earn the money and get the horse and YES i know horses are VERY expensive.|::::|The initial purchase is a small part of it. You will want to find a job you can continue to do to pay monthy food, vet, farrier, board, etc. Some chores: Mowing lawn Dishes Repaint the house, garage, whatever Paint inside the house Wash/wax cars Retile the bathroom (not as hard as it seems) Re-cover or refinish old furniture You can also see if you can work at the stable if you are going to board the horse. That can decrease your monthly bill. Added: start doing home improvements - painting, retiling, cleaning. It doesn t make for a long list, but it is a LOT of work and it makes a big difference. Save plumbing and wiring projects for when you get more experience. The bonus is that your parents will grow to depend on you for their home repairs and won t have to hire as many professionals and you will gain experience so that you will be able to look after your own home in the future. A fun quot;projectquot; if you have a carpeted room that you no longer want carpeted---rip out the carpeting and paint the floor. I did that in my family room because I didn t like the carpet. I only got to check 1 chore off my list, but it took several weekends and makes a big impact (from beige carpet to tile red concrete).|::::|The best suggestion I have for you starts off wif me asking you a question: How long do you want horses to be in your life? If you want a horse now, then follow anyone s list of chorces to do *not that it will help you save money any faster*. IF you want to have horses in your life for a longer bit of time *say the rest of your life* do this suggestion: Do good in school, get a good paying job, and then get as many horses as you want. . . you can work on the side and get enough money to lease a horse *I do that*. good luck. . .I know the waiting bites, but you should at least start looking down the road alittle.|::::|hey im 15 and i used to work at a riding school for a bit of money and then it closed down. =[ why don t you work for people down your road or stuff.. like walk their dogs for a fiver (showing your responsible =P) or cutting their grass once a month.. you know general stuff like that you could tell your mum that you will do things like this for about £10 a week: 1) clean kitchen and living room and hover 2) clean windows?? 3) load/unload dishwasher a couple of days 4) make dinner once a week 5) walk dog??? i know it seems like alot but it s your parents money and they know they will have to support your horse as it is money every week, so they will probs be thinking why give her money.. we could just save it ourselves and pay. make sure they trust you and know you are responsible if they have alredy said yes you can have a horse than count yourself very lucky. good luck!
