Why do some seem to get outraged by the mere notion of allowing people to keep the money they earn from work? -
chg3|::::|A lot of those people doing the screaming don t work and want what those that do have. Redistribution of the countries wealth is NOT going to mean that the rich will be sharing theirs! It means those in the middle class who are already supporting those that are getting aid will be giving these people we already support MORE of what we make. This is called greed at our expense!|::::|Because some believe that the fruits of a citizen s labor does not belong to the individual citizen but rather to the government. Therefore, only the government has the right to determine what it will parcel out to the citizen, what should go to other citizens, and what it will keep. They feel that only the government has the right to determine how much money that a citizen quot;needsquot; so that they can confiscate the rest.|::::|Because there seems to be too many earning high wages, like CEO s of failed companies, and then they get golden parachutes. Look at some investors, who bilk money from clients. Look at creators of some of our industries, like Gates. Did he really earn that wealth. No, his dedicated and somewhat underpaid workers did. If he was really such a great guy, he should have reinvested a lot of the money back into improving his operating system. He should freely fight those who create worms and viruses. But they make too much profit off of those programs to protect our computers. And not too effectively, either. So, yea, I can understand why a person earning minimum wage looks at the disparity and wonders why it is still like this, and getting worse.|::::|This country is spending ten billion dollars a month on the War in Iraq. That alone is $33.33 every month for every person in your household. Where do you think that money comes from? Taxpayers will pay it, even if we are borrowing it from China and Saudi Arabia right now. That doesn t begin to cover the rest of the cost of the Pentagon. Then, there are all those other functions of government, like roads, schools, fire departments, police departments... How do you pay for those services?|::::|Because we should want to help our fellow man.The ones that don t earn enough to live in an upscale neighborhood, drive new cars and have all the spoils Americans deserve. If we could all make the same amount and have all the same spoils such as health care, time off,etc... we could be a better country (socialist country).|::::|I think everybody agrees with Rush Limbaugh s famous comment that 100% taxes would mean no one willing to work by free association. But, most people believe a portion of a check should be taken, and the debate amongst them is about how much, centering on whom, and for what use(s). You ve deliberately created a false binary in your question, suggesting we must either follow your unstated but purportedly ideal tax structure, or rob the worker blind.|::::|I am with you and what many do not understand that taxes on your employmnent are not even constitutional. They were supposed to be voluntary after the war. Congress had no power to impose a direct income tax and has called for the repeal of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution, which was ratified on February 3, 1913.|::::|You mean when you drive to work on roads paid for by taxes? And your workplace is protected by building codes and police and fire fighters that are paid for by taxes? Hmm. I don t know. Some people are just greedy I guess.|::::|The only ones outraged are the ones who are happier letting the government run their lives for them and those who expect entitlements that won t work themselves.|::::|I m not sure, perhaps they re of the irrational inclination that if people do that they won t use their money to help others. As if that s any different from the way things are right now lol.|::::|Only the democrats and liberals feel this way. They want you to share the wealth, with them!|::::|Because they can t have the share they think should be theirs
