Jobs for a 16 Year Old | How to Earn Money and How to Get Noticed? -
I m 16 and I really need a job. I live in New Jersey. Or at least make some money. See, I m getting my license in October (still a while away but it ll come up fast) so I really want my car like as soon as possible after my license. My parents are only giving my $5,000 for a car and if you look at prices of cars, you won t get a really good car (around here) So I really need money. And my dad won t make monthly payments for my first car. So far I only have around $310 plus a ton of change which is like $40. So yeah...I m getting worried. I would really like a good car that actually runs haha. I ve been looking for a job and applying to jobs. I have a lot of places around here but none are hiring. (Damn economy) Like grocery stores and clothing stores. I have a strip mall like 2 minutes away but most of the jobs you have to be 18. I ve applied to 1 grocery store once and another one twice. So now that you ve heard my story, do you think you can help me? What kind of places (stores or restaurants) actually hire 16 year olds? What can I do to make money if I can t get a job soon? How do I get my application noticed that they would consider hiring someone with no experience? Should I call or right a little note on the application? No one is really hiring anymore and if they are, they mostly go to older people who lost their jobs due to the economy. Even though there hasn t been a real big decrease in job loses around here.|::::|Places that hire 16 year olds: Grocery Stores Pizza Shops/Fast Food/Restaurants Landscaping Companies Movie Theaters Car Washes Outsourced Work (Companies like Manpower, Labor Finders, and Office Team who find you daily or weekly work on a temporary basis) If you want to make money online, then theres lots of things you can do at 16. Im pretty sure you can sign up for a google adsense account. Thats one good way to make money if you spend time on it. Make a website and put some ads on it, then use videos to promote your site. The more popular your videos are, the more visitors you will get and the more money you will make. You can also just put google adsense ads directly on youtube videos now. But youtube isnt the only place, you can load videos on to myspace and all the other popular video sites. But dont just make boring videos that sound like ads. Make videos that actually teach people something or are entertaining. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK5ADX2Q7...|::::|Your answer is simple. You must be persistent. Some employers don t like it if you constantly call them but there is no other way to become noticed if you have never met anyone unless you almost stalk them. But you will be stalking in a good way. Until you hear them say no. If I were in your shoes, one day after I leave the I would call the office around 10. You want to make sure that they have gotten in and had their first cup of coffee. I would do that every other day until they said no. Secondly, after they say no, I would call them once a month just to keep my resume fresh in their mind. After six months I would apply again. This tactics has a 50/50 chance of success. And hey what have you got to loose, all they can do is say no. But their is no harm in trying. About the car, I am from Connecticut and when I wanted to get a used car for $2000.00 a year ago, I have found that Vermont and New Hampshire has really nice cars with low mileage, usually owned by a retiree. You can purchase that and use the other $3000.00 that your parents are giving you to pay your insurance and get a car stereo, a tune up, touch up on the paint job, and some new tires.
