School or work? Pros/cons? -
Hi, I m in grade 12 and I m trying to figure out whether I should take a year off before college to earn some more money so I can live alone. I m just curious about the pros/cons of this idea, and if anyone has experience I d like their input. So which is better, go to college next year with less financial security, or take a year off and earn enough money to live alone? |::::|Go to college right away! If you take a year off, you will not want to go back to school. You will be out of the habit of going and pretty much forget about everything you may nedd to know when entering college. I know a few people who took quot;a year offquot; and never ended up going back because they kept telling themselves they d go back the next semester but just never got around to it.|::::|Why not do both; go to college and work? Many have done it |::::|its eaiser to get into college right after high school. Im not saying that if you wait a year you wont get in but colleges are more eager to take in fresh student. While going to college you can apply for jobs and maybe earn an apptretence status is some area of work. For all of my children they found it easier to stay home during further education until they were done, My son is in his fourth year of university and I found it easier for him to keep going to school and pay for it when i waved his rent fees. I let him stay on one condition that he continues going to school and is able to hold a job. He has kept both up for four years. First year students usually have a bit more trouble, in some colleges university they make the first year a bit harder than the rest, exception of third year university which can aslo be touch while choosing and graduating for a degree. I recomend staying home if your able to and go to school. I think you could swing a job and school but that doesnt leave much money for your place food lights electric and fun, moving out alone is very hard the first time then add school it could be tough. Really I think you should go to school and live home, if living home is a no go think about getting a room mate. be careful when choosing one and take time to figure out your financial troubles. you can apply for a student loan, these can be troublesome so make sure to speak to somebody and find the right bank or whatever it takes. I myself went to school but back in my day i lived on campus and went to nursing school. I later went to university and earned my masters in neuro science. Im still a nurse I just conduct studies. I went to nursing school fresh from high school. I learned great things getting out so early. I had a lot of help from my parents but I know i made what happened for me to happen. Im a huge fan of college, you can go there and leave with a job and your always given the choice to go to university after college.Living alone is tough, but so is living with room mates. you will know what works for you, sometimes you just have to dive in head first to really feel how cold the water is
