Percentage of people who earn/win large sums of money and waste it? -
This question was asked in our AP Literature class in correlation to a play we just read. I don t know if there s some chart or poll out there that somewhat answers this question? It doesn t have to be a chart or poll I guess—just anything that somewhat answers the question.|::::|Easy come, easy go. A fool and his money are soon parted. Sayings like that are there for a reason. Most of us have a few lucky breaks in our lives. Even if it is only a Christmas bonus or tax refund. Inheritances, insurance settlements, severance packages or other small or medium windfalls. The people I have seen get the money usually have it spent before they even get it. Somehow found money isn t the same as hard earned money. If you spend 40 years saving a million it feel different from getting a winning of a million. Ask people if they got given a million what they would do and most will say give most of it away and spend on some wants. Ask people who saved it and they will say invest it for their future and leave what is left to heirs. My guess is 80% blow it all.|::::|I don t believe there are statistics on gamblers or lottery winners and high earners as to their wasteful spending habits. There are more gamblers who have hit it big and given all the money back plus some more. This is also true of some lottery winners. Easy come. Easy go. For most well paid people in business, industry etc, most are good money managers and have held their fortunes.
