Hi, I am 18 and a few month old. I earn about 180 a week after tax, just wondering if i open a current acc? -

Current account would i qualify for an overdraft just off around 200 pounds to help me control my money better! i live with my parents the only thing i really pay is my mobile phone bill and petrol! thanks|::::|Why don t you simply check with the banks????? You could even check online, or even phone some. But then, you are only 18 and a few months old. Those few months really make a difference don t they?|::::|Why do you need an overdraft? Your outlay in minimal, so controlling your money with an overdraft is a strange idea. I have a huge overdraft facility but have never used it. Spend only what you have to avoid trouble in the future.|::::|you think an overdraft will help you CONTROL your money better? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL You should always live within your means. Do not enter into credit or debt. Save up and use cash only. If you overdraft £200 that is more than you earn in a week, so technically you will be earning to pay the bank !|::::|yes you should get 50 pound no questions asked i got a 50 pound one with no job at the time|::::|I m not sure exactly what you mean by your question. But it is a good idea to open a savings account and saving your money. First off set aside money to pay your bills and set aside money for gas and helping others. Most importantly to see your money grow set aside SAVINGs money that you don t spend. You want to put down at lest 10-20% of each of your check in to this fund a minimum of $200 a month. What ever you have left over you can use it for spending money or chose to save it for something bigger that you want. Its good to open a ROTH IRA for your retirement fund as well and set money aside for that. That will help you in the long run.|::::|im nearly 20 and they wont let me have a overdraft, i suppose it depends on who your with. Im not bad with money but i tried to get an overdraft and they wouldn t allow it yet they gave me a credit card :s .. Theres no harm in trying though, the worse they could say is no.|::::|an overdraft doesnt help you control money,it helps you borrow money. banks see young people as high risk so you probably wouldnt get one now.you have practically no outgoings, you dont need one! once you have mortgage, council tax, insurance, phone bill, tv licence etc then you might need one.most overdrafts charge around 18% interest and if you go over it you get massive charges, dont do it!|::::|If you have a good credit score it should not be a problem. If you have no credit it should also not be a problem. I work at a bank in the US and our policy is to allow a customer to have overdraft on all checking accounts. The amount of overdraft is usually dependent on income. I am sure that you will be able to get the overdraft you are requesting.
