I have also given myself technical challenges, and forced myself to complete them, by researching online, asking question, experimenting, going step by step and eventually doing it. Also do not specialize yourself. I am currently a database guy, but I have been a Web guy, an IT manager, a tech support guy and all sorts of positions in this industry, as well as worked in different industries each time. First I worked for a reseller of computer products. Then I worked for a publisher. Then in the automotive industry. Then for a trade school. Currently for a marketing company. That s how you start a resume. And yes, I had to start from the bottom of the ladder, in a cubicle, with a speaker-headphone on my head, doing tech support, and back then forcing myself to learn something new every day. One step at a time, you will climb the ladder.
