Give your kids a lump of coal for Christmas? -
Are there any parents that REALLY give their kids nothing for Christmas because of their behavior? And I mean something that would merit this. I m just curious. I ve never really known a person who did that but i m assuming there are people who do. I remember when I was a teenager, if I wasn t deserving of it, I would still get quot;Christmasquot; but my mom wouldn t get me the one thing I reallllly wanted. She would say, quot; You think i m going to spend my hard earned money for something YOU want, when YOU want to disobey me?!quot; lol|::::|I can t imagine a parent doing this, because it is so cruel and sends the wrong message to the child. Children need to feel loved, which may be behind the reason they act out in a bad way from time to time, as a way of getting attention. Giving just coal on Christmas is not going to help them feel any better....just worse. I think your mother had the right idea, to just with-hold the one gift she knew you really wanted as a way to say that she expected you to do better in the future, but that you were still loved.|::::|I was always promised not only a lump of coal but a bundle of switches as well and I knew my parents wouldn t hesitate to break out the old switch. My daughter had a melt down in a store the other day and I informed her that Santa had told me that she had lost seven presents. Of course these seven presents that she s not getting exist nowhere but in her mind. I never answered your question, did I?|::::|Reminds me of the episode of Little House On The Prairie. When the son of a farmer found the gifts in the barn told his little brother their is no such thing as Santa Claus and showed the brother the gifts. The younger brother went to his father about what his brother had shown him. So on Christmas day that big brother go no gifts for christmas and had to sit their and watch the others open their gifts on christmas day.|::::|Yes, this year I have grown a backbone and underneath our christmas tree there is nothing for my very bad 16 year old daughter except a box with a short letter explaining why and how it hurts me to not give her any gifts this year.|::::|I ve never, ever heard of someone not getting presents due to behavior but some kids whose families can t afford Christmas presents may assume it s because they were bad :(|::::|my stocking had snow in it! lol!
