What are those quot;Diamondquot; commercials supposed to be saying? -
That if a man spends a lot of money on jewelry for a woman he will earn her love?|::::|There are several messages, these are a few that come to mind:: - If you don t buy her expensive jewelry, she ll dump you for someone who will. - If you really love her, you have to buy her expensive jewelry. - If you refuse to buy expensive jewelry for her, you re not a good husband/boyfriend. - Buying expensive jewelry is the best way to show her that you love her. - Etc... I could go on all day.|::::|Yes. Women will automatically be impressed by a small shiny rock. One size fits all. It doesn t matter who she is, what she does for fun, what her values are. Nope, none of that matters. Just shell out the cash for that shiny rock, and she ll be happy. I think the diamond ad I ve been seeing lately that says something along the lines of, This holiday season, get her the gift that s as unique as she is.quot; Then they show you this diamond somethingorother and a price and tell you where you can get it. Hmm, how unique do you suppose that piece of jewelry is?|::::|Diamonds are a stupid piece of rock they are worthless compared to the fuelling conflict in Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone and many other Countries. It’s disgusting that a rock is something some people in our culture revers as beauty when on the other side of the world a little boy is having his hands cut off by rebels’ machetes over blood diamonds!! What do diamonds mean to me? Death and pain for many, but for some it’s a cute little trinket that they so blindly buy into!|::::|if not her love, you ll probably receive a little extra attention to the very thing you are trying to compensate for, and you better get on the way home or at least when you walk in the front door, go get some how ever you feel you need to. personally i feel alcohol is cheaper|::::|Oh god, I hate those - not is it insulting to men, it s insulting to women. Apparently (according to most commericals) all we care about are engagement rings, diamonds and babies.|::::|yes. and i hate it. i have received so many pieces of jewelery by boyfriends as gifts and i don t even like jewelery. it s like all i want in life is a diamond. i would rather have a sweater or something i am going to use.|::::|I think that is what the commercials imply. I don t feel that way. I am not into jewelry. I think it is misleading and implies that you can buy any woman with diamonds....so not true.|::::|That s the message, and it s bull. A guy who buys a woman a diamond without any real emotion behind it will either get a gold-digger or dumped.|::::|That is generally the theme of the diamond industry, yes.|::::|essentially. see also- her friends will like you you won t be in the dog house you can treat her like crap other wise LOVELY messages to be sending to impressionable young boys, hmm?|::::|The commercials are saying that the women will love you more if you buy expensive diamonds. In other words no matter what, she will love the diamond more than you.|::::|They re saying buy diamonds. Anything else is just frills, in the end all they care about is that you buy diamonds, from them.|::::|Basically. Yes, they re insipid and annoying. Diamonds are only scarce because DeBeers wants them to be.|::::|Exactly. And many people end up believing it.|::::|quot;Diamonds are a girl s best friend.quot; Why? Because she can always sell them if the bum won t work.|::::|Yes.
