MATH problems, PLEASE HELP! Deadline!!? -
Hey, I have a deadline for my math as of January 7th and I really need help. Please help me if you can! YOU DON T HAVE TO ANSWER ALL OF THEM. Any answer would be helpful!! #4- Joshua is doing a chemistry experiment that calls for a 30% solution of copper sulfate. He has 40 mL of 25% solution. How many milliliters of 60% solution should Joshua add to obtain the required 30% solution? #6- An airplane flies 10000 miles due east in 2 hours and 1000 miles due south in 3 hours. What is the average speed of the airplane? #8. The Madison Local High School marching band sold gift wrap to earn money for a band trip to Orland, Florida. The gift wrap in solid colors sold for $4.00 per roll, and the print gift wrap sold for $6.00 per roll. The total number of rolls sold was 480, and the total amount of money collected was $2340. How many rolls of each kind of gift wrap were sold? #10- The Nut House sells walnuts for $4.00 a pound and cashews for $7.00 a pound. How many pounds of cashews should be mixed with 10 pounds of walnuts to obtain a mixture that sells for $5.50 a pound? #12- At 7:00 A.M., Brooke leaves home to go on a business trip driving 35 miles per hour. Fifteen minutes later, Bart discovers that Brooke forgot her presentation materials. He drives 50 miles per hour to catch up with her. If Bart is delayed 30 minutes with a flat tire, when will he catch up with Brooke? Thanks, and God Bless.|::::|4- Joshua is doing a chemistry experiment that calls for a 30% solution of copper sulfate. He has 40 mL of 25% solution. How many milliliters of 60% solution should Joshua add to obtain the required 30% solution? Let x = no. of milliliters of 60% solution to add to 40 mL of 25% solution x + 40 = no. of mL of 30% solution after adding x mL of 60% solution 0.60(x) + 0.25(40) = 0.30(x + 40) 0.60x + 10 = 0.30x + 12 0.60x - 0.30x = 12 - 10 0.30x = 2 x = 2/0.30 = 6.67 mL of 60% solution #6- An airplane flies 10000 miles due east in 2 hours and 1000 miles due south in 3 hours. What is the average speed of the airplane? Total distance travelled = 1000 + 1000 in 2 + 3 = 2000/5 = 400 mph #8. Let x = no. rolls of print gift wrap (@ $6 per roll) 480 - x = no. of solid color rolls sold (@ 4.00 per roll) 6(x) + 4(480 - x) = 2340 6x + 1920 - 4x = 2340 6x - 4x = 2340 - 1920 2x = 420 x = 420/2 = 210 rolls of print gift wrap (@ $6 per roll) 480 - 210 = 270 rolls of solid color rolls (@ 4.00 per roll) #10- The Nut House sells walnuts for $4.00 a pound and cashews for $7.00 a pound. How many pounds of cashews should be mixed with 10 pounds of walnuts to obtain a mixture that sells for $5.50 a pound? Let x = no. of pounds of cashew (@ $7.00 per lb.) x + 10 = No. of pounds of mixture @ 5.50 per pound 7.00(x) + 4.00(10) = 5.50(x + 10) 7.00x + 40 = 5.50x + 55 7.00x - 5.50x = 55 - 40 1.50x = 15 x = 15/1.50 = 10 lbs of cashew (@ $7.00 per lb.) #12- At 7:00 A.M., Brooke leaves home to go on a business trip driving 35 miles per hour. Fifteen minutes later, Bart discovers that Brooke forgot her presentation materials. He drives 50 miles per hour to catch up with her. If Bart is delayed 30 minutes with a flat tire, when will he catch up with Brooke? Let t = no. of hours after 7:00 A.M. when Bart catch up with Brooke. 35t = distance traveled by Brooke t - (15 + 30)/60 =no. of hours traveled by Bart til he catch up with Brooke t - 0.75 = Bart s time 50(t - 0.75) = 35 t 50t - 37.5 = 35t 50t - 35t = 37.5 15t = 37.5 t = 37.5/15 = 2.5 hrs = 2 hrs 30 min Time = 7:00 a.m + 2 hrs 30 min = 9:30 a.m. God Bless|::::|I was about to help you, I d figured out all the answers, and then I saw you wrote God Bless down the bottom. So, no, I m not going to do your homework for you. Try to spend less time with your bible and more time with your math textbook - it will make you a better person.|::::|6- average speed = total distance travelled / total time taken =10000+1000miles/(2+3hrs) =22000/5 =4400miles/hr|::::|omg i love these!!! Algebra 1 right? sorry i forgot how to do them. i think it was a system problem though. try that|::::|err... i donno|::::|6: 2200 m/h sorry this is the only one i could do, i haven t done these problems since like middle school and to the person a few below me who said 10000 plus 1000 equals 22000 and when divided by 5 equals 4400, you are an idiot because 10000 plus 1000 definitely equals 11000 which equals 2200 when divided by five. so 2200 is the answer!|::::|Problem No. 4: Milliliters of 60% solution (x): 0.25(40) + 0.6x = 0.3(40 + x) 10 + 0.6x = 12 + 0.3x 0.3x = 2 x = 20/3 or 6 2/3 Problem 6: Average speed of the plane: = (10,000 + 1,000)/(2 + 3) = 11,000/5 = 2,200 (with this speed it maybe a fighter plane like Stealth) Problem No. 8: No. of gift wraps in solid colors (x): $4.00x + $6.00(480 - x) = $2,340.00 $4.00 + $2,880.00 - $6.00x = $2,340.00 $2.00x = $540.00 x = 270 No. of gift wraps in print: = 480 - 270 = 210 Problem No. 10: Pounds of cashew to be mixed (x): $7.00x + $4.00(10) = $5.50(10 + x) $7.00x + $40.00 = $55.00 + $5.50x $1.50x = $15.00 x = 10 Problem No. 12: No. of hours for Bart to catch up (x): 35(1/4 + x + 1/2) = 50x 35(x + 3/4) = 50x 35x + 105/4 = 50x 15x = 105/4 x = 7/4 or 1 3/4 (1 hr amp; 45 minutes) Time Bart will catch up: = 7:00 + 1:45 A.M. = 8:45 A.M.|::::|I believe #6 is 2200 mph. Average Speed = total distance/total time AS= (10000+1000) mi / (2+3) hr AS= 11000 mi / 5 hr AS= 2200 mph And I think #8 is 270 solid and 210 print. You have to make two problems: 4.00x + 6.00y = 2340 x + y = 480 x is representative of the solid and y is for printed. You then want to make them cancel out, so: 4x + 6y = 2340 -4(x + y = 480) That turns into: 4x + 6y = 2340 -4x - 4y = -1920 Combine the two: 2y = 420 Solve: y = 210 So the print is 210. Then you just substitute into one of the problems: x + y = 480 x + 210 = 480 x = 270 So there are 270 solid. I m not sure about the others, but I hope that helped =).
