Do I qualify for welfare health insurance answers asap!? -
I am quitting college and getting 2 jobs and I want to get an apartment. Now let me explain the reason I am quitting college. I have no Idea what I want to do in college and for the last 3 years I have wasted my parent s money changing my majors and not being happy with them. I want to go out on my own and live for a while and then maybe I will come to a decision on what I want to do. Anyways, I am under my dad s insurance until im done with school this semester. I am 21 so my insurance will run out as soon as im done with school. So I need insurance asap. I m afraid my parents make too much money for me to qualify for their insurance (my moms an RN and my dad is a retired steel mill worker. I am not sure what their combined income is. But I m wondering does it matter what their income is even though I will be living at home for a little bit before I get an apartment? or will I not qualify because they make too much money. I will be working 2 jobs at retail stores 1 full time and 1 part time. I do not want to collect food stamps or welfare checks because I am not going to be lazy I am going to work and earn my money. I just need health insurance. PLEASE HELP|::::|I ll tell you what you want to do in college - graduate. Just get a degree in anything. The degree shows employers you can do something, even if you don t like it. It is NOT a lifetime committment. Heck, be a quot;liberal artsquot; major. When you re done with dad s insurance, you can take quot;cobraquot; and pay, likely, $350 a month out of pocket, for your own coverage, until/unless you get a job with your own benefits. To get welfare health insurance, if you live alone, you need to make less than $700 a month. HOUSEHOLD INCOME is what s counted. TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME. Including your earnings, mom s, dad s disability, and the dog s. |::::|To Be honest,It will take a little time to find the answer for the question of yours.have a look at the resource here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/fre... for your reference . |::::|Hi , There are a couple options. Insurance for you is roughly $90-125 a month, that is full benefits, check to see what is accepted by your major hospitals and Dr s in your area , don t always go with the name brand ie. BCBS, check off beat names like aetna or medco, also DON T go through a broker(they make money on you) buy direct from the insurer. if you are healthy look for a healthcare savings plan, roughly $50-90 a month. If that is still too expensive check your state s website, ie NY and NC have a sliding scale health insurance. One of your parents may be able to keep you on one of their plans for less. Talk to them, tell them what you re thinking. I m a Mom and small business owner in North Carolina, you are an admirable and considerate young lady. Your parents should be proud and they are probably willing to help you. Good Luck ! |::::|I m afraid you will be a working uninsured. Youre going to have to buy health insurance or go without, that is entirely up to you. At least you are young, I went without it for awhile but I set money aside in case. Good Luck.|::::|As long as you live in your parents house, their income will be counted toward medicaid. You may be eligible for COBRA through the carrier your parents currently have you covered under. It will be expensive because you will have to pay 100% of the premium (the employer might have been paying a portion of it while you were in school.) The up side is there is no pre-existing and your depression medication will continue to be covered. You could find an independent agent in your area and see if there is a company that will cover you for your medication and any other pre-existing condition you might have. As far as medicaid goes, your age will also be a factor in eligibility. In most states, if you are over the age of 21, you must either be pregnant, have children under the age of 21 or be determined diasbled according to federal guidelines in order to qualify. Google your state + medicaid to find the site for your state. The other option is to see if your employer will offer or will be offering you health insurance. This is probably cheaper than the COBRA and your pre-existing conditions will not be covered if there is not a lapse of 63 days or less.|::::|No you will not qualify
