If I file for unemployment, and for it to be direct deposited, what name would it be under, on my online bank? -
I just recieved a sum of money from my prior employer, and I m not exactly sure why, im not fired, im just temporarily laid off. Im not sure why I got this money, I didnt punch in the time clock and earn it. On my online banking it says Credit deposit from my employer, is that unemployment? I m not sure what it is.|::::|You can t get direct deposit on unemployment to a place of your choice. You can t get unemployment benefits under any other name than your own. They will issue you a bank card.|::::|Since it came from your former employer it is NOT unemployment compensation. Unemployment compensation is paid by the State, not your employer. Obviously your employer thought that they owed you some money for one reason or another. That could be accrued vacation or sick pay, unpaid wages, or some sort of severance package. You ll have to call and ask them what it was. Some things have to be reported to your State s unemployment department, such as accrued vacation, while others are not reportable, such as severance pay. If you file for unemployment and choose to have it direct deposited it would show that it was from the State, i.e. lt;State of Confusiongt; Div of Emp Sec or some such tag.|::::|Sounds like to me it might be an interest payment from your credit union. Do you have savings in a credit union at work? Call your employer and ask them if it is wrong it is better to find out now and avoid any kind of problem.|::::|It is not unemployment since you have to file for that and usually it will not be direct deposited. Some employers hold back your pay an extra pay period when you start working (you fill in the first time card but do not get paid for that time until you fill in the next time card) so you would now be getting that pay. Another possibility is that your employer is giving you severance pay but that is unlikely since the employer would usually tell you if that was the case.
