How do I Stop feeling like This? Is this Extremely Abnormal? -

I have always been a considerate person, but lately it has been extreme. I cannot buy or use nice things because I feel so guilty. Like if I am invited to a nice restaurant I feel sick thinking about all the poor people who are dying of starvation. Or I recently tried to go shopping for a dress for a special occasion. I just could not get myself to buy a dress at all because of my guilt. I get very very angry and depressed when I hear of people buying 300 dollar purses or shirts, etc. I do not earn much money (i am in college), but I do give what I can to organizations that fight hunger, I have several sponsored children, and I volunteer at the homeless shelter. I do my part to help, but I still feel like this. It s good to be considerate, but I feel like it is taking over my own life. How do I learn to enjoy my own life when the world is so horrible??|::::|You are living with a negative attitude and are overly affected by poverty. Try to focus on the positive. There will always be poverty in the world and realize that you are doing your part to help, but do not feel like a victim. Be happy that you are not living in poverty. Just remember that heaven is waiting for those who suffer here on earth while praising Jesus as their savior.|::::|I think its so awesome that you want to do what you can to help. Yah they way you described it tho, it does sound like something may be wrong. It could be a phycological thing...or even obsessive? A little bit. You could be feeling it stronger lately because of the crashing economy, and worrying about other people. It sounds like you just need to balance helping others and taking care of your own needs a little better. And hopefully a little healthier, you shouldn t feel constant guilt.|::::|Ya think to much about things, lol. Let people do nice things for you and help you out. Just as long as you considerate and say TY which you don t have a problem with don t worry about it. If you refuse to much people will start to think your ungrateful or might get offended. So just go with the flow baby ;)|::::|Well think of pampering yourself. Don t put the whole world of problems on your shoulder. You ve done all you can. You can t blame yourself for being a person with enough money to pamper yourself. It s not fair to you. So love yourself before others.|::::|You are depressed. How do I know? Because you sound like my friend. You will have to eat mood-boosting foods like chocolate, fruits and veggies. Please help, people hate me and won t answer!! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...|::::|Not really an answer, but recent studies have shown that generosity might in fact be genetically determined. Is the rest of your family like this too? (see source)|::::|you must keep yourself calm and give yourself much needed breaks from charity in order to spoil yourself, by doing this you will keep yourself high spirited and energized so you wont burn out from helping out so much. Everyone needs a break|::::|I think it s great that you re involved in all those organizations. I am all for that. But sometimes you need to do things for you. Not saying to go buy a 300 dollar purse. I personally would never do that. I don t know why people do. I think you can find much better things that are cheaper anyways. But buying yourself a cute dress for a special occasion. That s perfectly okay. You need to do things for yourself sometimes. That s really all that I can say. I can t tell you why. That s just what I know. Keep telling yourself that amp; maybe it will happen.
