How much does skiing equipment cost? -

Can you rent it? If so, how much is it usually? I m going on a skiing trip with my friend in late January and my family is low on money, so I m trying to earn the money to make it work. Also, what other gear do I need (hats, gloves, etc)? I m not sure where we re going for it.|::::|Unfortunately, for the beginner skier, a ski trip of any length will cost you about $75-$100 a day for tickets and rentals. Try to pre-buy the tickets. Multiple day tickets purchased at the same time generally are cheaper and off-resort rentals are sometimes $10-$15 less than the resort rental shop. Find out where you are going and try to get the ticket prices off the website. Gore-Tex gloves and pants are expensive. You can get several pairs of less expensive fleece gloves and swap out gloves if yours get soaked. Put Sno-Seal (beeswax) on some leather gloves and that will work too. Carhartt also makes a leather, waterproof glove that is a lot cheaper than a high-end Gore-Tex skiing glove. Mittens are always warmer than gloves. Water resistant ski pants can be gotten for under $60 and you can pick up some decent ski socks at backcountry.com. A lot of styles are 50% off.|::::|Yes you can rent most of your equipment at the ski area. This is boots, skis amp;bindings, and poles. Also a helmet is advised. As to what else you need, it depends on where you are going and what the temperature is. An outdoor coat that is water repellent, also pants, and some long johns. A pair of ski socks and your foot are all that should go in your ski boot. Gore tex gloves and a hat that covers your ears and a set of goggles that will protect your eyes. For a one week trip I would budget $1000, and hope it would cover my costs. Also take a series of lessons from a qualified professional instructor. Many areas have a special 3 day package of skis, lessons and lift tickets for less than $200. Work coveralls and heavy jacket will not be comfortable for a long day. A week long rental of the gear may run $200, The rest of the budget should allow for lift tickets at $50/ day, food at the area is also expensive.
