What do you think about planned parenthood as a group? -
What do you think about planned parenthood as a group? They opened one up by me and there s protesters like 24/7. At first I kind of sided with planned parenthood and didn t think the protesters should be there. I dont agree with abortion but it s legal and people can do what they want. I also realize its probably a hard enough decision for women to make without protesters hassling them. I have learned more about planned parenthood however and think they are lunatics. This Christmas they are giving out gift cards for free aboritions, how sick is that. It s clearly for shock value and to be over the top. I think they provide a legal service that some people want so fine but to be over the top just searching for controversy is a bit ridiculous. They also want taxpayers to pay for abortions. I also think this is ridiculous since many of the peoplle who go there have had multiple abortions, why should my hard earned money go to pay for some lady who doesn t know how to use a condom over and over again. Basically I think the extremes on both sides of this issue are ridiculous but I think planend parenthood is over the top, what do you think?|::::|Gift cards for free abortions? Have you seen this with your own eyes or is this a nasty rumor? I don t believe it as you describe it. As for taxpayers paying for abortions, people in this country are eligible for Medicaid have the right to access the exact same services, procedures, medications, etc. as a privately insured person does. Sure, I would hate paying for abortions, but I equally hate paying for someone s liver transplant when they chose to drink themselves into liver failure, or pay for someone s gastric bypass when they could have long ago altered their eating habits and activity levels before it got to the point where they needed surgery. If you support a person s right to choose, and if you support the idea that people have a legitimate need for Medicaid, then you can t say that a person on Medicaid shouldn t have the same choices as any other woman, no matter how sucky their choice might be in the end. Paying for another person s abortion is a heck of a lot cheaper than paying for that child s welfare payments for 18 years.|::::|I think planned parenthood is wonderful option for women who cannot afford to see an gyn. The gift cards are for ANY of their services, so this can include abortions however it is not what they are attended for, and the gift cards are for someone to purchase and give to another person. They are not giving away abortions. How about you get you facts from places that are not just one sided exrteam christian views.|::::|They are not giving out gift cards for free abortions. It is gift cards for medical services in general. Overall Planned parenthood is a good organization that has helped many girls and women. The protestors need to worry about their own lives.|::::|I used Planned Parenthood for my yearly GYNO exams and free birth control because I didn t have medical insurance. In that sense, it was very helpful. As far as giving out gift cards for free abortions, that sounds ridiculous! It s probably a rumor.|::::|they do more then just abortions they help provide birth control they will also help you thru ur pregnancy if you want a baby|::::|I think they do a fantastic job. They helped me to make a determination as to which birth control method I should use when I got married. And if you can t afford it, there s no charge.|::::|I don t have much of a problem with them. When I was pregnant with my second child they connected me with a great mid wife that rented space out of their office. But one day I had an appointment I was about 7 months pregnant and had a very large stomach he was over 10 pounds at birth any way. The office had a very bad leak and all there appointments for that week were at another office about 15 minutes away and when I got there it was me my husband and my then 8 year old daughter very happy and my daughter could not wait to see hear her brothers heartbeat. Well we got there and it was a mess. It seemed like hundreds of protesters were out side with signs and blocking the entrance. I politely said excuss me and tried to get through. So a man handed my daughter a white carnation flower and told my daughte to put it on our baby s grave that we were baby killers. My husband went crazy and was seconds from hitting this man for saying that to my daughter. First of all I was very pregnant and if I was going to have an abortion why would you say something like that to a child. And my husband was grabbed by a cop and almost went to jail behind that. To make it worse I had to reassure my daughter that the baby was not going to die because she could not understand why that man said that. I really don t agree with everything a hundred percent but these protesters sometimes take things way to far.|::::|You appear to be sadly misinformed. They are not giving out gift cards for free abortions. They are (like many other organizations) selling gift cards to be used for health care -- birth control, exams, STD testing, etc. Might a few women use them for abortions? Possibly. Planned Parenthood is a wonderful organization that provides low cost or free reproductive health care for women who may not have anywhere else to go. They PREVENT unplanned pregnancies by providing birth control services. You need not agree 100% with everything they do to think that they are a great organization.
