What are some questions i should ask before signing a contract for a gym? -
I was offered a session free by the manager of Gold s gym at my local town, and I m a teenager who earns his money honestly and works really hard for it, therefore the little money i make, i try to save. I read so many scams from gyms to customers, so i m a bit afraid. I need your help plz!|::::|When I was in college a friend and I put our names in a drawing for a golds gym membership and we won. (everyone who puts their name in it wins, they call everyone) We went in and signed the papers and they would put our copies of the contracts in our file then said everything is all ready for us and said we could come in anytime when we re ready to start working out. When we came in a few days later they told us we owe them I think it was about $200. We didn t know what it was for and they said the only way we could work out at a golds gym is by a personal trainer and that was what the $200 was for. When we were signing the contract they didn t tell us that we needed a personal trainer. That was their way of scamming money out of us. When we signed the papers they also didn t give of the perfuacted copy. When we told them we wanted our copies of the papers they said they threw them away because we did not take them with us. So we paied the $200 then it was about i think 6 months later I was transfering colleges and told them I needed to cancel my membership. They said it was going to cost me another $200 because the drawing for the membership was for 2 years when it didn not say that at all on the drawing box. I told them I was going to sue them and all that then took a picture of the box we put our name in for the drawing and showed them and after that they knew they were in trouble and didn t make me pay. I later went to the Better Business Buro (www.bbb.com I think) and looked them up and found other people had the same problem as me and turned that golds gym in. My advice to you is get everything in writting from the cost or membership, contracts, personal trainers, membership cacelations, ect...and I would take a parent with you so maybe they will be honest with you. I m not saying all gold gyms is like that but the one I delt with ws horrible. The people were rude and everytime I called to speak to my quot;personal trainerquot; (when I did not have one) they played phone tag and had me talke to everyone except for him. Good luck and I would do a lot of research before you decide on doing that. |::::|Well, here in Ohio they are called quot;Urban Active.quot; They changed the name so they could expand to other regions. They run a shady business and their sales people will lie to you. I suggest you read the back of the contract after listening to the sales rep and then deciding. Do not pay more than $30/month for your membership. Here is my complaint for that gym. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... I will not sign another contract with this company. By the way, I put quot;World s Gymquot; on the question, but meant quot;Gold s.quot;
