Can someone help me with my future career ? -
I am a communication major with a business minor at a pretty good 4 year year pvt institution. I am a junior who volunteers for the fire department (currently earning my emt) and does a ton of media work. I want to become a Dr., maybe a surgeon. Is it too late? I have no money. How do I tell my parents?|::::|It s definitely not too late... med school is best if you let yourself mature a little bit first, you know, graduate college, go on a vacation, do an internship (all while studying for the mcat). save up a little money in the meantime, too. they like to see kids that get an internship or a job in between undergrad and med school b/c it gives you experience and you re not rushing into a program that will immediately consume your whole life! the worst thing you could do is rush through studying so you can|::::|I truly believe that you have to pick a career that you will love. Going through life work at a job that you hate is depressing and horrible. I am a Registered Nurse and absolutely LOVE my job. Go with you heart and your gut. It seems like you have experienced a lot of different types of jobs so go for the one your gut is telling you. I totally understand the difficulty in telling your parents, my brother went through university to become a lawyer and hated it and is not working in that field. Not knowing you or your parents I feel the best choice is to be honest. Believe me when I tell my parents were not very happy when my brother told them he was not going to continue with law but it is not worth the stress of doing something you hate.
