Why have Americans become so stupid??? -

People have to earn money to pay extreme taxes, house payments, gasoline,food costs, ant our gover. wants autos to cut wadges. It was ok to include raises for judges and give bail money to the people that created these problems with out asking them to replace management. We need to take back our goverment from big money.|::::|Stupid or disenfranchised? There s a lot of us who were against all the bailouts (including the banks). I personally wrote to my representative and published my letter to him on his blog. But for a long time now, big money has disenfranchised the taxpayer. You are right, by the time a congressman gets elected, he has had to accept millions in campaign contributions. Much of it comes from corporations and consortiums. It would be naive indeed to think these business interests expect no return on their investment. These congressmen and women are bought and paid for before they ever set foot in any office. For democracy to work properly, that must end. But that does not make us stupid, that makes us disenfranchised. Propaganda makes us stupid, but that s entirely another matter. Edit: to tineybutugly - there may be no law that says so, but there sure are a lot of men with guns, prison cells, missiles, helicopters, tanks, and bombers that say you do. Your choice, stand up and get mowed under, or pay up and live in (relative) peace.|::::|Dear heart, never call Americans stupid if you didnt check what you were typing, as you leave yourself wide open for some remarks that you may not like. I dont think they are stupid. This bail out stuff is a big question mark. The senators can not just decide to do whatever they want without regard to the feelings of the people who are already not pleased with the bail out of wall street. We need to cut back a little. All of us. However, I do agree with you that judges and senators and congressmen, and everyone needs to take a few cuts to help out.|::::|for 1 thing, america should consider it self lucky: there are places that are worse, for example italy (trust me, i ve lived there 5 and a half years there taxes are higher and houses cost much more). anyway i think because america is a very big country, with lots of things to fix and other things to do. the dollar s value has lowered it self drasticly in just 2 or 3 years, because bush is running out of ideas to keep the country stable, and also to pay the soldiers in iraq|::::|yes , as long as we install democratic free spenders in congress we will continue to be broke .. republicans at least try to spread it around more without going to china for loans.. yes i will get thumb downs but that is their way of venting rage at there party at least most republicans and even a few good democratics knocked the bail out down and i thank you|::::|Have you really looked at what the auto makers are paying those people ? Not including the benefit package they have. They get 95% of their wages if they are laid off ! Unless these people are living very high on the hog they should be able to take a wage cut ! They make two to three times what most factory workers make and have much better benefits !|::::|Yeah people have been brainwashed and dumbed down on purpose. By the way, you don t have to pay income tax. There s no LAW that says you must pay income tax.
